The form of this stoneware pitcher, sculpted by an artisan in Sri Lanka, was based on a piece from an early twentieth century Belgian basin set, found at a favorite market in Paris. Its simplified classicism, expressed in facets and grand curves, conveys a modernist ethos, and its generous proportions give it presence while serving drinks, holding flowers, or standing proud on the mantel.
